Dear Everyone!
My name is not important. I have been given the name of the Kraken by others but I do not consider myself to be unhealthy or twisted beyond the norm. I have been a part of this project on and off now since its ill-fated splash into existence on the American Crowed Funding Site; Kick Starter.
I like all of you have been waiting and waiting for some sort of news. Some sort of answer to the many questions that have been evolving around me and threw me towards something that we have all been so eagerly looking forward to, 2 years can be an eternity.
That’s right! What is going on with this? When is there going to be something of substance that I (you ) can sink my (your) teeth into? I called up a hated man and actually got an invitation to visit the Gamezone Miniatures (Gz) factory so what the hell. I took a stroll down to Sevilla and this is what I found!
When you first walk into the Gz work shop you are immediately introduced to the sextuplets, the new resin model machines that the company has purchased to make all the pieces for the game. This massive undertaking has not been simple.
As you can see these ladies have been hard at work and have gotten all dirty. Clean up please!
We all know that Gz is a long standing company in the Fantasy Miniature World but this is their first attempt to move into metal free resin designs and the machines as Dionisio tells me “Have been a serious headache and the learning curve has been steep. Working with the traditional metal centrifuge is a lot easier”. How much easier? Well I asked that.
“The traditional metal centrifuge is softer on the molds so we get a lot more pours out of each, as well as the ‘Taras’ (the malformed twisted or poorly produced final product) can be re-melted and reused. These resign machines have limited mold life so we have to make many more. If the final product that is not perfect they cannot be reused and the clean-up procedure is arduous” he tells me.
I was skeptical at first but what the hell “from lost to the River” as the Spanish saying goes. I got a tour or the GZ facilities.
Yes!! That’s right !! It is a full sized replica of Han Solo frozen in Carbonite!! As you can see on either side of the photo those boxes and shelves and plastic containers all hold the treasure we have so long been waiting for. In the back ground you can also see the red labels and boxes full of the normal GZ miniatures being eaten away as the monster grows. If you listen carefully you can even hear Cristina (Gz head of Distribution) growling as another box invades her territory.
BOXES AND BOXES full of miniatures pieces, objects for the game itself as far as the eye can see.
After the 5 min tour because you need no more, the place is just a big square warehouse. We went to get some typical spanish Panadillas and we sat down together at that beautiful plywood sawhorse center table to have a chat about the plans the company has for the game. I hit Dionisio with a barrage of questions and yes!, reprimanded him on his handling of the publicity for the game.
He looked at me and asked me “What would you do?” Honestly I was a bit shocked that he would even care. So I laid out a plan for actualizations and ways to show the backers that the game was really truly under development and that things where now at a point that they could be shared and drooled over.
He then shocked me more time by generally agreeing with me and telling me I was hired to do just that. SAY WHAAAAAAAAA!???
“So here it is my peeps” as one of my internet gamer buddies always says. The time has arrived for all of you to get your due. So please stay tune, put on your seat belts, get ready, get set, 3, 2, 1…… The Kraken has so much to show you and you have so many question.
P.s. I will let you know after the weekend just how to get in contact.
